I agree, maybe 20 years was a long period. Time heals all wounds, but maybe it makes some wounds worse.

There are times when I have stewed over something for days/weeks. It served no purpose except for me wasting all those hours and making my life miserable. Forget if not forgive, does help. Once you start letting go of things you cannot control, forgiveness also comes easily to you.
