Email This Post

Teen smoking is a growing problem and many teens are falling in the clutches of this problem. Not always smoking is taken willingly and intentionally. Many a times, it may be because of peer pressure, stress, low self esteem, lack of attention from family etc. If you are a parent who is quite concerned about this problem and want your teenager to get prevention from this evil thing then here are some tips that will help you:
Prevention from Smoking
Don’t be an Over Confident Parent
Smoking is a common problem and many teenagers are taking resort of it. And so it can happen to anyone including your son or daughter. So, don’t be over confident and boast all the time that you have full confidence in your children. Many people have misconceptions that their children will never fall in this problem. But you never know. So, you always have to be alert and take preventive actions that your teen does not fall in this trouble.
Set an Example
Your children are going to follow your way. Since childhood they have seen you and you are their ideal. And so if you set wrong example for your child or teen, then don’t expect them to stay away from smoking. You must preach all good things in life and then only your teen will obey what you say.
Talk About Smoking Freely
It is vital that there is a free flow of communication between you and your teenage children. This is because then only you can frankly talk about the vices of smoking, the health problems that happen because of smoking and how you hate smoking. These general discussions form an important part to show your teenager the right way.
Look Out for Symptoms
You must be an alert parent having knowledge about the child’s performance in school or college. You must be frank enough to talk to his or her friends. You must also try to find out whether your teenaged son or daughter has any problem or is going through any stressful event. If you find something abnormal, then take action fast.

Hi Sonika. Setting an example is the best way to deal with these issues but may not always work. But talking about it freely rather than drawing a curtain around it could be really effective and win your children’s faith. Good one.
I was a smoker for a long period, but then one day when I suffered an attack my doc. told me to give up, but after some time I continued to, then came one day when I asked my self… THAT was the day I QUIT smoking, and today I campaign anti smoking one to one on the dtreet.
So help your kids to talk to them selves first
Teenagers nowdays get rebelious on giving too much suggesstion, better be friends of them and then start getting them rid of such habits…
