mother-child-read-bookWhen i decided to take one year off from my job, to be able to spend time with my husband and toddler i thought a lot of my time will get spent in teaching my little toddler new things daily…indeed true…yes a lot of time time is getting spent in teaching him but i have realized he learns the most from the times when i am not teaching him!!

Every evening when we go down for a stroll, i did not teach him which door to knock to call out for his friend and mine. He just learnt!

You need to put the lights on in the kitchen to be able to walk to the refrigerator and take something out, did i ever teach him this? NO but jolly well each time i take him to the kitchen in my arms his little hands try to reach out to the switch first!

Did i ever tell him to put on his shoes before you walk out of the house? No but he never budges beyond the door till the shoes closet is opened and he has adorned his little feet with his shoes.

On the contrary I have spent numerous days trying to teach him that the rabbit goes hop-hop and the frog goes jump-jump. He has learnt, no doubt but I have been drained in the process :-)

Just when this realization dawned upon me gradually i also came across an email forward which said how these little eyes observe you day and night and learn so much from you. I ever since have pledged, that i will just be a good human , smile more often, spread more warmth around and do all the good I can, and hope my little one just learns. He has taught me so much and its time i show I have learned!!
