Review:

I have always been a big fan of the Chicken soup series. Whenever I have felt a bit low in my life I’ve turned to books for inspiration & some good cheer and the chicken soup series has always been able to inspire and rejuvenate me. Its amazing how around the globe the joys and sorrows in people’s lives are so similar and how we connect with others facing similar circumstances.

But Chicken Soup for Entrepreneur’s soul just blew me away. It’s such a warehouse of information. It’s difficult to imagine that big names in the industry today had such a humble beginning. It tells you about how ideas were conceived on a garden swing or of a business started out of a shoe box. How people who had nothing but trust in their instinct grew from a nobody to become the biggest stalwarts in the industry. People who built a business after a big setback in their lives or people who decided to follow their dreams at 50 leaving a secure job and future behind. It’s about people who left well paying jobs in the corporate world with nothing but credit card advance to start a business. And yet they have been successful. Even with so many odds stacked against them they have been able to achieve what they set out to. These individuals did face hardships and setback and had to struggle to reach the top.

But I guess in the end it would all have been worth while, all part of the learning curve and now they can look back and have the satisfaction of a job well done.

The presentation of the book is very impressive. I really liked the fact that after each story a brief biodata of the person is given along with the website address incase we need to know about them in greater detail. I have noted down all the website addresses.

A book full of 59 truly inspiring real life stories. It I a must read for anyone who has dreamed of being his own boss and making a mark in this big bad world.

And next time you eat at the subway remember it was started by a seventeen year old to have enough money to pay for his college.

It’s a celebration of dreamers who became doers.

  • I just read your posting (I recieve Google alerts for the book’s title) and you’re right on target. The book was created to inspire people to follow their dreams, either personally or professionally. And quite honestly, it was just plain fun to pull together; I worked with nearly all the entrepreneurs in the book on their stories, from soliticing their participation to even ghostwriting. It was a ball and an experience I will never forget.

I wanted to thank you for your kind words and refreshing review. Your candor and insight when it comes is welcomed and appreciated.

    Kindest regards,
    Dahlynn McKowen, coauthor
