On the wrong side of 30/40/50?
Email This Post
I’ve often heard people talk negatively about their advancing age. And I feel totally intrigued when I hear conversations like these:
A: How old are you now?
B: Oh! Just forayed into the wrong side of 40…..
C: What must your age be?
D: Can you believe, I’m venturing into the wrong side of 50!…And you thought I was any younger?
E: Well….If I may ask your age…..
F: Sure, I’m on the wrong side of 30.
If a person is 47, or 39, or 59, can’t such responses come a bit on an optimist tone?
Yes, you are growing older, yes you are “Aging”, and yes, the age is showing itself on your face, your health, your agility, your stamina….but then, need it show up and surface in on your attitude, your approach or your outlook?
Clock is going to tick by; birthdays will come and go every year, but living life to the fullest would mean, living every moment as if there wasn’t any tomorrow, and enjoying that moment wholeheartedly. Why think like “Oh! God!. I’m going to be turning 38 next month. I’ll be soon venturing into my 40s”.
The point is Yes- You’ll turn 40, then 41, then 42 ….and so on. That’s inevitable. But why count? Just go on living every second to its fullest, living every dream to its entirety and taking every breath by the wholesome. If that is something one practices, there won’t be any such thought visiting in your mind gallery regarding ageing, and you’d even stop describing your age as being on the wrong side of any scale (like 30s scale, 40s scale etc).
After all, these are just numbers. But what is important is how you lead your life in the time frame when you’d turn one more year old. Someone rightly says that Life is an interval between two Birthdays. And it is this interval which is more significant than the advancing number on your age scale.
So, here’s hoping that all those who are sailing in the ship of 30s, 40s, 50s, would think twice and revisit on their thought process while describing their age. Hoping the conversations would get rephrased as:
A: How old are you now?
B: Oh! I’m just 47. Life’s never been so calm. I’m just taking it easy; one day at a time.
C: What must your age be?
D: I’m only 57, and I’m still raring to go places. I still feel like a youngster who’s bubbling with a “Can Do Attitude”.
E: Well….If I may ask your age…..
F: Sure, I’m nearing my 40s. The last decade has been so much like I’ve been out there proving myself to the world and to everyone around me. But now I feel good; more focused and livelier than ever before.
