Teaching – A Noble profession ……Now?
Email This Post
Teaching, a noble profession which helps to educate human beings on various aspects of life and the conceptual way of management and the solutions to the many knowledge oriented consequences. It is the only profession which teaches us the way of living and the social ethics. It is quite obvious for a teacher to educate the students in all these areas.
In ancient days particularly teachers were worshiped like a demi- god due to their dedicated services. Here the question is ,The “so called” noble profession still has its merits. Do the authorities and professionals belonging to the department have service oriented mindset. I would say definitely not (with some exceptions). Why has the status of nobility come down to a controversy or debate? Who has caused this? How has it happened? The answer is none other than “We”(Teamwork???). Everyone plays a role of spoilers. First the professionals deciding to become a teacher are thinking only about the easiness of the job, paid holidays, effortless pay (In Govt)instead of its service. The authorities are less concentrating on developing some innovation on learning methodologies and the course contents. If we compare the state board syllabus with the matriculation, you won’t find much differences except few things. Then why the strength of the Pvt schools keep on increasing where the govt schools are in endangered situation. Need to think it off. In South Asia, there are many govt schools are merged with the nearest one due to less no. of students and the teachers. It really sounds very bad, no one will mind to spend more on studies when it is available for free or at low cost. This is the real scenario in South Asia. When I was observing all this happening around us, it pained me a lot. The same govt which had came to the power only because of the democracy by promising them to keep their life style up but it has been dumped down later on. Why I am very specific on the education is, it is the foundation for every aspect of life. What would be the solution for these problems?
Yes “where there is a will, there is a way”. The authorities, professionals, parents, you and me should be very cautious on educating ourselves and our kith and kin. Otherwise we may be forced to feel guilty for the future happenings. Did you know America ranks the lowest in education but the highest in drug use? It’s nice to be number one, but we can fix that. All we need to do is start the war on education. If it’s anywhere near as successful as our war on drugs, in no time we’ll all be hooked on phonics.
