colour of happiness

If happiness had a colour

What would it be?

Would it be the darkness of the

Sky? Or the green of the waving

Trees?

The azure of the waves lapping lovingly

Or the yellow of the ripened mango

I’m yearning to take a bite.

I see the sun and his gold

I feel the moon and her silver

I mix them all inside my pupils

And I see sparkle all around me.

Happiness could be red, like

The outline of the setting sun.

Or dusted steel, I see around the moon

Every time, in the lap of clouds.

That faint colour at the tip of

The rainbow kissed by tiny droplets.

The brown at the bosom of the earth

Or a colour of every flower, mixed

To get a brand new hue

One of that little secrets of God.

If happiness had a colour

Perhaps we could have painted

Our bare walls

Of life, with its most splendid shade.

But like beauty, it rests in the hearts

Of the beholder. Hard to place

Hard to hold. Like the rain

Heavy or shallow, at one

Unexpected noon

All we could do is let it wash

And before we know, its over. The colour

Then we see around, the wetness

Is what is happiness, dried in no time

Yet damp for a while, inside

The memory of our lifetimes.
