I tell him that I love,

hold him till the stars fade at night

serving hot steaming coffee with a smile,

breakfast with promises of tonight.

I smile at the mirror, for I find a smile

in there.

and yet, when I blink, it stares.

I cook with love, I bathe in secret

dreams, awaiting him

to arrive and find me in smiles.

a long day as drawn off, and i had waited

not looking at the mirror, not even once.

i find no smiles returned these days

and when i ask him to watch, he laughs at

my smirks.

I hold on to him at sleep, in faint echo when

once i heard a name,

i asked him the next day, and he too stopped

looking at the mirror

and then at me too. that’s when i realized

i was not me but the other!
