It took me an especially boring and hot afternoon to take this book out of my colleague’s desk. THAT THING CALLED LOVE by Tuhin A Sinha seemed like yet another book on an expedition to discover and define ‘urban’ love. But let me say something about the cover page…a lonely wet white frangipani flower on a damp road. There is something about this image that instantly connects you with the thought of love. So I sat down and I finished and I felt being dampened by the monsoon of Mumbai.

The story is set in the backdrop of Mumbai monsoon and revolves around three men who are colleagues and who are caught up in the labyrinths of urban love. The passion, promise & promiscuity in relationships are bought out as the riddles of urban love. Mayank, Anil and Vishal are colleagues and friends and each with three different temperaments that classify their relationships. The women in their lives are also equally intriguing.

The language is however a bit on the lops. But the story is catchy. And, yes, we could literally feel the monsoon soaking in.
